About

Jeff Steinborn is an award-winning director and cinematographer with over 30 years of experience behind the camera. A Tulsa native, Jeff began his career working with agencies in Oklahoma before branching out and working nationally with agencies from Los Angeles to New York.

His love of visual narratives led him to work beyond advertising and in the past decade he has team up with Traci Goudie, an acclaimed writer, director and photographer from Austin, TX.

Together they have worked extensively in the music industry with top country artists, including Reba McEntire, Mindy Smith, Patty Griffin and others, as well as songwriters and various labels and production companies around Nashville. As a team, they’ve created a collection of beautiful music videos.


Currently, Jeff has several film and television projects in development, including a feature film he wrote with writer Coe Douglas and a reality television show set in Nashville, TN. In the past, he has worked on shows for PBS and the History Channel.

As a commercial director and cinematographer, Jeff has worked with clients all over the world. He has built a reputation for imaginative camera work, a keen eye for shot composition and brilliant set lighting. His experience has paired him over the years with a roster of brands that include:

Cinematographer

Jeff is a visionary cinematographer. He creates rich visual narratives and has worked with both film and HD video with equal skill. He has been at the forefront of emerging digtal cinema, embracing the Red System and numerous other Digital cameras. Jeff’s eye for lighting, set design and shot composition give him a deep on-set tool box from which to work.

Director

As a director, Jeff has been the eye and vision behind countless music videos, TV commercials and documentary film projects. He works great with talent and brings a fresh approach to projects.

Working in collaboration with several long-time creative partners, Jeff has created and developed several television and movie projects, including a two feature films which are currently in development.

Swampy

I am working with Coe Douglas, a writer, director and long-time collaborator and creative partner on a new reality based show that is completely crazy.

The show is about the life of an accomplished, award-winning Nashville songwriter who is equally infamous for his antics around Nashville. Our star is a larger than life, wild-as-hell country boy and a with a big heart and a ton of musical talent. You won’t be able to take your eyes of him.

In other words, this show is one hour of music, skirt-chasing and hell-raising.

New Scary Movie Project

I am currently working on an Independent film with writer & director Josh Shreve about a father in search of his missing daughter who is being held and tortured by a evil cult.

This is classic horror or suspense horror and I really liked the story and we have a great location lined up to shoot at.

Josh and I have worked together quite a bit over the years. He’s an up and coming talent.

I’ll have more info on this in the new year. So, check back.

Reba Project Wrap

We just wrapped on a special about Reba McEntire which we shot in one full day at Starstruck Studios in Nashville.

I worked on this project with my friends at Big Machine Records as cinematographer and lighting director. For the video, we used a couple of Canon 5D and 60D digital video cameras.


Reba was absolutely great to work with on this project.

Shooting In Chicago

I just finished up shooting in Chicago with my friends from o2 and Verizon Wireless. Always a good time in the Windy City.

Chicago is a great place to film. I think we ended up with a pretty great video.
